The Road Home

A community discipleship home building sustainable change.

THE ROAD HOME

a community discipleship home where healthy habits are created through soul care, peer-led accountability, applied life-skills, and new life in Jesus.

Program

The Road Home is about long-term habit formation that focuses on following Jesus.

We emphasize accountability in community for discipleship and a second chance at life.

We focus on forming life-giving values and habits while depending on Jesus for new life.

This program delivers students on-the-job relationship and life skills through a menu of work services available. A key objective is connecting students with permanent new friends and community committed to their success, new identity and purposes in life.

Why the Road Home?

Most of our city’s chronically homeless need more than a hand-up to a time-fixed addiction rehabilitation program to get back “on-track” and on with their lives. We’ve learned from five years of working with the chronically homeless in Redding that most of these have never been “on-track.” They need much more than the “hand-up” of a six-month rehabilitation program.

The chronically homeless need to live life in an accountable community for at least two years for new habits and behavior to form. Sufficient time living out new habits is needed to over-ride the negative programming they’ve acquired through abusive childhoods and life experiences. They need Godly relationship skills, habits and ethics to be effective in life and discover their unique identity and value in God’s kingdom on earth.
